- Carmen & Emma have successfully campaigned for two major events. Each campaign had an “Arc” of focused training, training regattas, and multiple qualification regattas:
- 2017 World Sailing Youth World Championships in Sanya, China
- Qualifier #1: 2017 I-420 Midwinters Championships, Miami, Florida
- Qualifier #2: 2017 US Youth Championships, Corpus Christi, Texas
- Training Regatta: 2017 I-420 World Championship, Athens, Greece
- Training Regatta: 2017 I-420 Junior Europeans, Riva del Garda, Italy
- Training Regatta: 2017 I-420 Atlantic Coast Championships, Greenwich, Connecticut
- 2018 World Sailing Youth World Championships in Corpus Christi, Texas
- Qualifier #1: 2018 I-420 North American Championships, Miami, Florida
- Qualifier #2: 2018 I-420 Midwinters Championships, Miami, Florida
- Training Regatta: 2018 Kieler Woche, I-420 Fleet, Kiel, Germany
- 2017 World Sailing Youth World Championships in Sanya, China
- Carmen & Emma plan their training in “Arcs” which enables them to:
- Try/develop new techniques, tactics, and/or approaches
- Refine these skills and integrate them into their existing routines, and
- Build on our progress with a goal of reaching “peak” performance targeted at key events
- During the “Arc,” Carmen & Emma may compete in regattas which serve as a part of the overall training “Arc”
- Enables them to test their developing techniques and skills under “regatta conditions”
- Training Regatta results are less emphasized in favor of achieving progress on the overall training “Arc”
- After each “Arc,” Carmen & Emma take a “checkpoint” – which is absolutely critical. Each checkpoint allows them to:
- Reflect on their performance during the “Arc”
- Evaluate what worked and what didn’t work
- Identify key items to work on in their next training “Arc”
- Rest: step away, disconnect, sleep, recover, and recharge
